Programs Tailored To Meet All Your Needs

Private lessons

We offer private lessons in a variety of musical instruments as well as art. All our teachers hold degrees in their respective subjects. We have devised a curriculum that we follow to ensure and measure the progress of students, but we tailor it to the individual needs and abilities of each student. Throughout the year we hold recitals, open mics, mock auditions, competitions, and exams to provide a variety of performance experience.

Enrollment is open for the following private lessons:

Group lessons
THEATER-mania

Intro to acting (ages 8-13)
  • The course consists of theater exercises and games designed to enhance imagination of student actors and promote exploration of the immediate and imaginary environments, including inanimate objects and people to aid in the development of a story and character. The course gradually progresses from simple drama elements like movement all the way to dramatization, resulting in creating and performing scenes by students themselves. Minimum 4 students are required to enroll to start the class.

Acting for singers (ages 11+)
  • This course is designed specifically for singers. It explores every aspect of singer’s preparation as an actor. Exercises range from breathing techniques to work with text and character. Depending on the size of the group and the abilities of each student, students will be assigned solos, duets, or scenes, and will learn how to approach a musical piece from different angles to enhance their performance. Minimum 4 students are required to enroll to start the class.

ART-mania

We are running several mixed media boutique programs, from intro to drawing/painting to advanced classes for children, teens, and adults. We also offer specialty art programs such as book illustration, cartoon illustration, decorative arts, etc. Each program runs on a quarterly basis. By the end of each quarter students will be able to create a portfolio and take part in mini-exhibitions both within the school and around town.

  • Each class lasts 1 hour. Minimum 4 students are required to enroll to start the class. We also offer individual and duo art lessons.

  • The instructor will devise the curriculum based on the size of the group and the abilities of students.

Starting mid-August we are launching two GROUP programs: Intro to drawing and Intro to acrylic painting. These programs will run until end of October-beginning of November. The course is only $180 (12 weekly classes) - lowest price in town. These are not painting parties. Students will actually focus on developing professional techniques.

INDIVIDUAL and DUO lessons are ongoing with a yearly enrollment and monthly payment plans. Please, call the office for times and availability. You can also schedule a one-on-one TRIAL lesson with our art teacher by calling or emailing us at info@melomaniastudio.com

Intro to Drawing

This is an Intro to Drawing course for beginners. Students will be working with perspective and working in color, as well as black and white. This course is about learning the basics of art: basic elements of art, line, space, texture, etc. Students will be working heavily with charcoal and will learn to draw realistically. They will work on drawing from real life objects. Students will work on form and proportions of the objects they draw to achieve certain level of realism to them. Students will be doing some still life work, portrait work, and landscape.

You can request additional information via email, phone, or chat system on the website.

Illusion of Color

The objective of this course is to understand how color can enhance a work of art. In this introductory acrylic painting course (advanced drawing course), we will be learning how to use color to give our artwork life. Our first class will be dealing with the color wheel and how different colors interact with each other. We will do some exercises on color mixing and having a tactile grasp of how they work together. Our first project will be an “abstract” optical illusion piece, where students will understand how highlights and shadows can give their pieces a 3-dimensional effect, while experimenting with color theory.

Our second project will follow with a complementary color self portrait, where students will create a portrait with a limited color palette. They will start with a warm or cool toned background. Then, they will use the complementary color of the background to draw in the shadows and a light color (that isn’t white!) to fill in the highlights. You can achieve great depth with color without using a a lot of color.

Our final project will be a fun, mixed media painting dealing with surrealism. The students will paint the background with whatever color relationships we learned over the past course. They will then use plastic/paper/fabric and put it on top of their wet paint to create an interesting effect. Whatever shapes that the students see is free for them to explore! Whether it’s creatures, clouds, trees, etc. It doesn’t have to be realistic, but take one creature at a time and paint in the details. The point is to enhance what they see and what your creature already looks like. They can add highlights and shadows around the outline of the shape.

Learning to sing does not only mean developing the ability to sing in tune. In order to sing with soul and expression, confidence and ease, and yes, in tune, a singer needs to perform a multitude of tasks all at the same time: control their breath, remember the melody and lyrics, think ahead, but at the same time be in the moment, understand their voice and be able to access different registers of voice effortlessly, think about the character, be expressive, properly utilizing accents, dynamics, change of tempo, etc. All this presupposes work on different aspects of singer’s development, often performing seemingly unrelated tasks. A typical voice lesson at Melomania consists of breathing exercises, elements of movement and acting, ear training exercises, posture control, regular vocal warm-ups, and work on musical pieces of student’s choice to combine and implement those different elements. We are confident that with our methods students will develop into well-rounded singers and artists.
